Salvador Dalí had special interest in the mysterious Castle of Quermançó, which is full of history and legends. His obsession produced two paintings inspired by Castle of Quermançó: "La cabra de Oro del Castillo de Quermançó" and "Castell de Quermançó". The latter is nowadays filed in the Teatre-Museu of Figueres:

Castell de Quermançó

(Salvador Dalí, 1977)

La cabra de Oro del Castillo de Quermançó
Oli sobre fusta (Dalí, 1979)

MANIFIESTO MÍSTICO, 1952

Handwritten letter by Salvador Dalí which he sent to his
cousin Montserrat inviting her to visit the castle of Quermançó, in 1951.

Dalí said that the most beautiful and spectacular sunsets of the world are those seen from the Castle of Quermançó. It is well known that Dalí had stopped there more than once while on the road from Figueres to Cadaqués.

He went up there several times with his friend Pitxot and the Technical Architect of the Teatre-Museu Gala Salvador Dalí, Pedro Aldámiz.

Dalí's bright idea of installing the Organ of the Tramuntana at the Castle of Quermançó is widely known. He thought this organ should emit music activated by the strength of the powerful northern wind.

In another surrealistic gesture, Dalí intended to put a rhinoceros at the foot of the castle of Quermançó. He stated that tourists would pay to see it.

In the sixties the great genius Salvador Dalí declared his purpose of acquiring the majestic remains of the castle to place there the residence of his muse Gala. But the "Dalinian triangle" would end in Púbol and never in Quermançó because there was never a purchase agreement.
